Russia, a place in turmoil. In the picture all seems well. Dr. Peter Mitskevich, Dr. Mike Lawsen (Dallas Seminary), and me at dinner after a great day of meetings in Moscow. We were privileged to be at the gathering of the leaders of the Learning Centers of Moscow Seminary. In addition we were part of a gathering of Christian Education leaders from around Russia. We as a conference sponsored a marriage conference with the leaders and their spouses as part of the meeting. We helped Dr. Lawsen minister to these couples. The marriages need our encouragement as the leaders spend their time not only leading their centers but also pastor churches in the area. Most pastors in Russia have two or three jobs! I am amazed at the dedication of these couples to the training of leaders throughout the nation!
I met Taras who came from Ukraine. I could tell that he was holding back tears. At lunch I asked how he had been impacted by the conflict. He shared that he had lost his home, his nephew, and other friends to the conflict. Taras needs our prayers.
In April I will be taking an organizational specialist to Khabarovsk to help develop a long range strategy for that campus. We must understand that those educated in Russia during Communism were not trained in strategic thinking or planning, in that era, all direction came from above (and I don’t mean from God). This campus needs direction for the future. Dr. Mitskevich has asked us (NAB) to help them develop a plan for the future.
Your prayers are requested and appreciated. Gary Clatterbuck
