Dear Family and Friends,

Happy New Year! The year 2018 has arrived along with new adventures with Jesus as He continues transforming hearts. How is He transforming your heart?

Home Assignment Travels

Home assignment incudes many travels. The picture to the left is often my view. Traveling from one church to another gives me the opportunity to see many parts of the country, as well as many friends and family along the way. This home assignment I have had the added bonus of having my mom travel with me to several churches. Thank you for welcoming me, and sometimes my mom, into your churches and homes. It is a joy to share with you about what God is up to in Japan, especially at Komyo Christian Church. I am grateful and humbled to hear about how you pray for me and the ministry in Japan.

Another part of home assignment includes time to refresh and renew. In January I was able to have a few days in the mountains of Colorado for a personal retreat and time of debriefing. Spending time in nature alone with God refreshes my soul. I appreciated time to pay attention to my soul in the midst of the busyness of life.

I’d like to share one of the verses that encouraged me throughout my time in Colorado. “He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals His thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God Almighty is His name” (Amos 4:13). The Lord Almighty, who has created this beautiful earth, also calls us His own. He reveals His thoughts to us. What beautiful thoughts to ponder!

Thank you for continuing to partner with me as we walk with Jesus around the corner and around the world.

Soli Deo Gloria,
Shan in Japan
