Dear Family and Friends,

This summer in Japan has been scorching hot! I was so glad to have some time to escape the heat with the team of 7 other members from our Japan Baptist Churches to attend the Triennial Conference in Edmonton. The tour started with a visit to the Rocky Mountains and then joining the conference. The members of the tour were very much encouraged by the messages given by the speakers and learning more about the relationship with the NAB Conference. Seeing the greater family of God and meeting up with former missionaries was the highlight of their trip. My sister helped with the Rocky Mountain tour and it was a pleasant surprise to see my parents come out to visit the Edmonton Japanese Christian Church to greet the team too. It was a very short trip but we came back encouraged in the faith. Thanks for your prayers for a safe and blessed journey!

Coming back to Japan, I met the Gateway team from Washburn, ND, that came to minister to the churches here. The team of 5 were well received and many people were touched by their testimonies. Praise the Lord!

Thanks also for praying for the Ladies seminar last month. The ladies enjoyed spending the day studying God’s word and discussing issues of the heart with one another. We talked about the importance of Scripture to speak truth in to our lives rather than believe the lies that Satan brings our way.

The Heijo Christian Church has been undergoing renovations. The church has been renovating the outer walls and also the pastor’s residence on the second floor in preparation for receiving a pastor soon. There are some candidates that they are considering. They have been without a pastor for over 6 years. Please pray for this church as they pray and seek God’s will for a new pastor.

Kongo Bible Church is also seeking God’s will for it’s church as they have been without a pastor for about 4 years now. We have started a prayer and praise time every second week. Pray that they would be encouraged by the presence of the Holy Spirit in their midst as they too seek God’s vision for the future.

The month of August is quite busy with many events. Please pray for the College and Career camp on August 12th-13th and also the Youth camp from the 14th-16th. Pray that the young people will be spiritually encouraged and commit their lives to Christ. Pray also for the 22nd as I will be the guest speaker for the kids outreach program at the Ise Baptist Church and also the 24th at a local cram school. To end off the month, 27th-29th, will be the Pastors and Missionary Family Retreat. May all of these events further the kingdom of God and bring Him glory.

With a thankful heart,

Yuri Nakano.
