Hello friends and family! We are excited to share our ministry update with you! We hope to give you a glimpse on how mission preparations are going, share about the Lord’s faithful provision, and give you an update on what’s been going on this summer at Camp Falcon Rock.

Hungarian homework

Well, we continue to try and tackle the beautiful/frustrating Hungarian language and are so thankful for our wonderful tutor. We are really enjoying the relationship that has developed with her as God uses her amazing teaching skills to help us along and encourage us. We are currently trying to make a decision regarding the timing of selling our house. Fundraising is in full swing now, and we have surprisingly enjoyed the journey more than we thought we would. We have had the chance to connect with old friends, meet new friends, and have meetings with people who are really excited about the ministry of Camp Falcon Rock. It has been an encouraging season! We are currently sitting at about 22 percent of our fundraising total, and we are setting a goal to try to have 50 percent raised by the end of September. We have booked a missionary training course called COMPASS in Colorado for April 12 through May 8 and hope to be around 90 percent funded at the time of our training. The training program for the kids is supposed to be amazing, and we are really thankful that they will learn some useful tools to help them with the transition. If we are funded at this time, then following our training we could continue on to Romania. This would allow us to be in Romania in the spring of 2021 and give us some time to transition before the busy season of summer camps begin.

Main Lodge groundbreaking!

Unfortunately, this year summer camps were unable to run because of the pandemic, but we are hopeful that CFR will be up and running next summer. Construction of the main lodge has begun, which is super exciting as this will allow a greater number of kids to come and experience camps each summer. The picture above is the laying of the cornerstone for the main lodge and the dedication of this building for Kingdom mission. Summer camps being cancelled this year has allowed for accelerated construction, including some of the cabin patios.

This fall we have the opportunity to be involved in three missionary conferences in Alberta. At this time, we are not sure if they will be in person or online, but we are really looking forward to connecting with people and being in community.

We have had a lot of people ask if the pandemic has changed anything for our plans to move overseas, so we thought we would speak to that in this newsletter. We have felt a strong peace about moving forward and have felt like we are to continue with our plans, and Lord willing they will come to be. That being said, we will continue to pray for guidance and leading from the Lord and would appreciate your prayers as well.

Celebrating every percent!

As a departure date nears, we are having many conversations with our kids about this transition, which has been teaching us about how we all process things differently. Reading books about third culture kids has us praying for a lot of grace as parents as we transition ourselves as well as help our kids to adapt and feel the emotions of it all while clinging to the truth of God’s Word. Our family is doing well and enjoying the nice summer days with some camping, visiting family, and having some backyard fun. We will be celebrating Keli’s birthday on August 22, and then the kids will be returning to school in September. Dani is entering her first year of junior high, and the other kids will continue at their elementary school.

God continues to surprise us with His good gifts and provision of things that we did not even know we needed. He has been equipping us, giving us unrequested resources, and answering unspoken prayers. We have marvelled at the kindness of God in this season, how undeserving we are and yet how gracious He is. He has proven that He is paving the way ahead of us and thinking of all the details and putting things in place so that we can thrive in His calling. Thank you for your prayers and support for our family. God bless you!
