Dear Family and Friends,
I have arrived safely back in Japan! Thank you for your prayers. I was to leave in the midst of the polar vortex and was, therefore, delayed a few days. It was great to have some bonus time with my family and friends. All of my flights went smoothly, and I was greeted at the airport by a few friends who kindly helped me get all of my baggage up to my apartment!
The past month has been spent reacquainting myself with my neighborhood and driving on the other side of the road as well as getting together with friends and catching up over tea or dinner. I was happy to be warmly greeted by the staff at “my” Starbucks and by my gospel choir friends. I have also met up with my roller coaster friends and ridden again! God has continued to work in the lives of my friends. I look forward to seeing how He continues!
Komyo Christian Church continues to grow and shine the light of Jesus in our neighborhood. It is inspiring to me to see how the young Christians are maturing in their faith. What a blessing to worship with these brothers and sisters in Christ again.
As Olympic fever takes over the world this month, I am thinking about running the race of faith God has laid out before me. At the end of February we will host a ladies’ lunch at Komyo Christian Church. Our theme is “Go for the Gold.” It is my privilege to share a short message about going for the gold in our every day lives just as Olympic athletes train for their races.
Thank you for lifting up the ministry in Japan, at Komyo Christian Church, and in each place God leads me daily. May you be blessed as you pray!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Shan in Japan
