SEMINARY NEWS:

In the first semester of our new Pastoral Formation course, we had classes Monday to Friday evenings. I taught Homiletics 1 and Missions and coordinated the rest of the professors as well as our Million Leader Mandate course. I had the opportunity to speak at some local churches and at my own church; I have been doing leadership training once a month. Also, every 6 weeks or so I have been traveling to a city on the other side of our state called Uruguaiana to teach a group of 40 leaders Homiletics. It’s a 9½ hour trip so I take a night bus, sleep all the way there, teach and then take a night bus home again. I always look forward to going as they are a great group!

Our Seminary has a partnership with a Baptist University in the state of Paraná and we are now in the process of becoming a satellite campus for this university so that students interested in doing specializations or an on-line accredited bachelor in Theology degree can do so through our Seminary instead of having to travel 2 states away.

Through our partnership with the North American Baptist Conference we have 2 North American professors scheduled to teach next semester. One is coming for the last 2 weeks of August to teach Homiletics 2 and one is coming for the first 2 weeks in December to teach Ecclesiology. We are blessed by their willingness to share from their years of training and experience.

CHAIN OF LOVE NEWS:

I continue to lead the weekly Bible study for the mothers. It’s such a privilege to spend time with these women. It was also great to spend some time with the missions team that came from Steele Heights Baptist in Edmonton, AB, in May. I hope those of you who were at Triennial this year had a chance to meet Telmo Camargo, Chain of Love’s executive director, and Jim Paris, Chain of Love’s missionary responsible for international promotion and short-term mission teams. They had great things to report and a wonderful time connecting with people.

OTHER NEWS:

Paulo and I spent July on vacation with my family in Canada. It was a much needed time of rest for both of us and we are grateful for how God blessed us with a wonderful place to stay and a great family in Brazil to take care of our dog while we were away. It was a time to reflect and be reminded of God’s calling on our lives. We are also thankful for God’s healing as 2 days before our trip back to Brazil I landed in emergency because of the excruciating pain in my lower back. After praying and receiving medication I woke up the next morning pain free! While my back is still an on-going challenge I haven’t had pain like that for over a year. Now that I’m back in Brazil I will be resuming my physiotherapy hopeful that one day I will be permanently cured!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!
