Our last trip in November before heading back to Brazil was a road trip through the Rocky Mountains to College Heights Baptist Church in Prince George, British Columbia. It was Paulo’s first time in Jasper National Park, and he really wanted to see a black bear in the wild. Sadly, we didn’t see a bear (the first time I haven’t seen one in the Prince George area), but we had to stop for mountain goats crossing the highway in the wildlife corridor, and we saw a female elk sleeping beside the highway, and, incredibly, two full-grown male moose fighting with their antlers! We also made a quick stop at the foot of Mount Robson, the tallest mountain in Canada. We left on my birthday and decided to stay overnight in Jasper to celebrate. We even found a Korean restaurant for supper – one of my favourite types of food. It was a great weekend reconnecting with the College Heights church family. Then we headed back to home base in Leduc, Alberta, and the next day were on our way back to Brazil.

Once back, our first activity was joining our colleagues to host a RumoPlan Church Planting Networking event. Shortly after that, we loaded up our minivan with seminary students and headed off to the Neurodivergent Camp. The week started with staff training, and then on Thursday, the campers arrived! We had 16 kids between the ages of 4 and 16. And some of the parents also participated with us. What a wonderful group! These kids demonstrated respect, always making sure everyone felt included. For several of them, it was the first time they had ever made friends, as all of them have suffered bullying. Their emotional intelligence was beyond their years, and joy radiated from them. Even the parents got really involved and had their own camp program with one of the pastors. I was the official photographer for the week. You can find many photos and videos on the official Instagram page @divergentementes.

During the weekend of camp, Paulo, the seminary students, and I snuck away for a couple of hours to attend the seminary graduation ceremony on November 22. Elias will continue serving alongside our close friend, Pastor Flávio. Gabrielle will still be close to the seminary as her new husband, Diego, still has one more year of studies. And Wellington is currently seeking a ministry position. During February, he will preach at our home church while Paulo comes to spend the month with me in Canada. We would love for Wellington to come serve alongside Paulo, but our church currently doesn’t have the financial means to pay a salary to Paulo, let alone another pastor.

After participating in the Christmas service on the third Sunday in December, where Pastor Tyler Williams from our sister church, Greenfield Community, preached, Lyndell travelled back to Canada. She continues her home assignment, and Paulo will join her at the very end of January. Lyndell’s mom has been struggling with heart issues, so Lyndell is very grateful to our gracious Lord that she can be close by to care for her mom at this time.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUING PARTNERSHIP AND SUPPORT!
