A Wonderful End to the Semester

We had a wonderful end to the seminary schoolyear as we hosted Pastor Dana and Monica Goodnough from Pittsford Community Church in Pittsford, New York. Pastor Dana was in Brazil for the ninth time teaching at the seminary. Monica was with us for the sixth time. They have become such dear friends to us, and they not only minister alongside us, they minister to us. And it’s no surprise that the students loved having them here, too!

Our Brazil field team with good friends, Pastor Dana and Monica Goodnough.

As I make plans for the new academic year, some change is on the horizon. I have been invited to teach at another Baptist seminary in our state, about half an hour from our home. I am looking forward to being in a new environment and meeting these new students.

I continue to be involved in flood relief work, principally in an administrative role. We are so blessed that we continue to have funds available from the Flood Relief Fund started by the NAB and are very grateful for all those who contributed. There is still so much recovery taking place. In November, Paulo and I attended a meeting with an organization offering to train trauma counsellors in our area. We hope to be able to participate and then offer this type of counselling at our church plants.

Just this past weekend, our seminary celebrated graduation. Typically, we do not hold graduation during the summer break, but we did it to accommodate our students’ schedules and the fact that one student was coming from northern Brazil. I was honoured to once again bring the commencement address. What a joy to celebrate with these three men, two of whom are church planters (including one from our church here) and one who is the assistant pastor of discipleship at his church.

Thank you all for your continuing partnership and support!
