As I write this, the Kairos Project from Sioux Falls Seminary is being launched in Brazil! If you would like to check out our website designed by my colleague, Marci Jones, you can find it at the following address: www.kairosbrasil.org.
Brandon Jones and I had the privilege of presenting Kairos to the Baptist pastors of our state this morning during a meeting on Zoom. Both Brandon and I have been approved to be academic mentors by Sioux Falls Seminary. This fall we hope to have our pilot group of students start their programs. If anyone is interested in helping to fund a scholarship for one of these students, please get in touch with me through my email address: dellcamp@gmail.com.
Another big event this week was the start of our second semester at the seminary. We have six new students, including two from other states in Brazil. We are so thankful to the Lord for how He continues to grow our ministry even in the midst of a pandemic.
Recently I had the opportunity to share with the North American Baptist Executive Team and Regional Ministers about how COVID-19 has affected the church here in Brazil. I am grateful for this opportunity to share with them and hear how the North American church is pressing on during this time.
Speaking of COVID-19, many of you have reached out to see how we are doing after having seen different new reports coming out of Brazil. We are still in isolation after more than four months now. More and more we are hearing about people related to those in our church or seminary who have contracted COVID-19. No one we know personally has died from the virus, but there have been a couple of Brazilian Baptist pastors from other states who have lost their lives to COVID-19. Every Wednesday at our prayer service we pray for the latest people who have contracted the virus. Just this past week a former member of our church and a sister to one of our current members was diagnosed positive. She is now recovering. Paulo and I and our families remain virus-free, and for that we are thankful, knowing it is a response to your prayers for us.
Lastly, our home is about to become a study hall. Both Paulo and I will be students this fall. I will continue in my PhD program while Paulo will be a Kairos student.
Prayer
- Please continue to pray for protection and health for seminary student, Deise, as she works on the frontlines of COVID-19. God has faithfully protected her during these months and given her many opportunities to share her faith.
- Please pray for Lyndell and Paulo as they start their studies.
- Please pray for patient endurance as we continue in isolation. Pray that a vaccine would be developed soon.
Praises
- Praise the Lord for a great start to the second semester and for six new students.
- Praise the Lord for His protection and health.
- Praise the Lord for our partnership with Sioux Falls Seminary and for the opportunity to bring the Kairos Project to Brazil.
How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver!
