Interpreting for Pastor Tyler Williams as he preaches at Bethel Baptist Church.

Back in the day, when I was associate dean of Students and a professor at Taylor University College, I met Tyler Williams. He was the Old Testament professor. Little did we know that years later he would be preaching in Brazil as pastor of Greenfield Community Church and I would be his interpreter. These are those special moments that remind us how we never know the intertwined paths that God takes us on. We were so blessed to receive Pastor Tyler and the team of leaders from Greenfield for a full week of ministry here in Brazil in July. We had the privilege of introducing them to the gaucho culture, the seminary where I serve, our church, and our friends.

In an extra special moment, we visited a Guarani tribal village. This was even a first for me. The tribal people tend to isolate themselves from outsiders. This was the first time their chief interacted with foreigners. We were able to go on this visit as one of Paulo’s and my closest friends, Flávio, is friends with the chief’s father. Flávio and his team have been serving this tribe for a number of years. We helped him deliver 80 blankets. We met some of the tribe at their school, and the children shared two songs with us.

At the end of this month, Paulo and I will be starting home assignment, and we look forward to visiting many of you. For those of you in Alberta, please come and see Paulo and me at the mission conferences being held in Edmonton, Olds, and Lethbridge in October. Our home assignment will be divided into two, three-month periods, as we will need to be back in Brazil for two important events in November.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUING PARTNERSHIP AND SUPPORT!
