The Wagners had served with us from 2016 to 2021 and are now back for another year. Within the first few days of them arriving, Vern was already back in the backhoe working on the latest camp construct project, and Gloria jumped right into cleaning, organizing, and preparing the camp for our fall groups. Having the Wagners back is such a great addition to our team, not only because they are so experienced and skilled but also because they are dear friends.
With summer camps over, the camp has still remained busy with fall groups and construction projects. It’s encouraging to see the camp booked so often, and by church groups as well as businesses. In September, we hosted a florist group consisting of florists from around Europe who were presenting at a trade show nearby. On top of this, our annual Thanksgiving service at the camp has split up into two events. This year we held a Thanksgiving service for the province of Salaj one weekend and then the next weekend we held one for Bihor province. We did this because the Thanksgiving service has become so well-attended that we needed to split up the group. Yet even with these two events, we still had close to 1,000 people for the first week and 500 for the second. We are grateful that Camp Falcon Rock can be a place where people can connect and worship God among so many other believers.
On top of all of the bookings, the camp has been busy with construction projects. The team has been expanding the root cellar building (one of our cabins/retreat houses) so that there is an outdoor cookhouse and patio space. This addition makes this space even more set up for small group rentals throughout the year, like for pastor retreats, family vacations, and even small business meetings or conferences. Development of the main lodge is continuing on, including work on the electrical infrastructure. As well, the crew just installed a massive fireplace oven to heat the upstairs. Having this fireplace now provides us with the option of using the top part of the main lodge throughout the winter. We are excited to have this space available for our upcoming winter camp!
This October marks the 10-year anniversary of the North American Baptist (NAB) and Hungarian Baptist Convention of Romania (HBC) partnership. It’s incredible to see all that has taken place as we’ve been walking together in ministry. God’s vision has been far greater than what we could’ve ever imagined. One of the ways we saw God work this fall was hosting a mission team made up of the NAB Executive Team and Regional Ministers, along with their spouses. This team spent time meeting and encouraging the HBC executive leadership, running a pastors’ training conference, running two ministry leader conferences, and preaching in the village churches surrounding the camp. This trip spoke volumes to the leaders here in Romania and was so mutually beneficial for the relationship that has grown between the two conferences.
Thanks for your continue love, care and support!
Grace and Peace.
