I’m always amazed when I’m able to look back and take stock of the past, the most recent things and the times I’ve had to struggle through, and now see how God spared me. When we decided to join the team here in Romania, the months leading up to that decision weren’t much fun. At the time, we weren’t aware of His calling us here. We only knew He was calling. We had a good life in Alberta. Family was close; relatively speaking, we had all the stuff to live comfortably. We had a firm grip on our stuff, our gold. Over a couple of months, it felt as though He was asking us to loosen our grip on that gold. When we (I) started letting go of stuff, it felt right, but it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I had numerous wise people ask me if we knew what we were doing, and every time I said, “No, but it feels right. Not easy but right.” The other day I heard this line, I can’t tell you where or who but I know it was for me: “He adds to our treasury by asking us to surrender our gold.” Now like I said, at the time we were being asked to loosen our grip on our stuff we hadn’t yet seen or heard too much about Camp Falcon Rock. Folks, I don’t know how much gold we got rid of, probably not much, but I’m sure my treasury is full, all because I chose to loosen my grip.
Matthew 13:44: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
Winter has arrived at Camp Falcon Rock. Snow. Wind. Drifting. Feels like we are back in Alberta. I always enjoy the first snowfall, it makes things look clean and fresh. Reminds me of the hymn – I Shall Be Whiter than Snow. “Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow. Now wash me and I shall be whiter that snow.”
Isn’t that great? God can wash our sins away and make us whiter than snow.
The crew has been working on the inside of the new cabin (aka, root cellar). Electrical has been finished, and they will start putting the stucco on the walls. They are also building a storage shed, which will be used to store the pellets for the boilers. Never can have enough storage spots.
We stay close to home, which we are fine with. We enjoy the peace and quiet here. We were able to join the Gerickes for our traditional Canadian Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings. We love serving with this young couple. 🙂
Thank you again for your love, support, and prayers.
Till next time,
