HFC Introduces Most Excellent Way Recovery Groups to Latin America

In September, we took a team from a Christ-centered recovery ministry called Most Excellent Way to Argentina and Brazil. Previously we had visited Mexico, and through our Field Coordinator in Campeche, we were able to launch two groups. The focus is the biblical principles God makes in his Word as people are set free in Jesus. We have two groups meeting in recovery centers, mainly full of cartel soldiers. This is one way we are helping Latin American churches to be more missional and to take the gospel out into the streets.

In Argentina, we visited many addicts and alcoholics the local pastors had been working with, and their families as well. We invited them to a meeting in the evening and introduced them to the process. The first church was in Buenos Aires, and we had 22 people attend, including a few mothers and wives of the addicts. The second group was in Salta, and we had over 40 attend. There is a clear need for church-based, Christ-centered recovery ministries in Latin America.

We also sent our team into a youth detention facility in Brazil, where they had a chance to share their testimony and the Gospel with dozens of young men.

New Hispanic Ministry Launched

Salt Creek Baptist Church in Dallas, Oregon, has recently launched a new Hispanic Ministry to reach the considerable Hispanic population of their city. Pastor David Curtis and his church have brought Emilio Vasquez onto their staff to begin preaching the Gospel to individuals and small groups and through community activities. Pastor Sorin Crivceag, pastor of the Hispanic ministry at West Hills in Salem, Oregon, is helping us to begin this new work. This is possible through collaboration between the local church, the NABNW Region and Hispanics for Christ. We are excited to see more groups started across the Northwest!
