Mexico
In July, we were able to bring some leaders from a Christ-centered recovery ministry, The Most Excellent Way, to Campeche, Yucatán, Mexico. We visited two secular recovery centers, where Josh and Matthew shared their deliverance from using and selling drugs. They spoke to over seventy residents (many cartel soldiers) and had a powerful reception. Over a dozen accepted Christ with tears and brokenness. Josh and Matthew were also able to provide teaching materials (in Spanish) to our newest Field Coordinator working in the Yucatan, Hector Romero-Ronquillo.
Hector has already planted two house churches, with many baptisms and over eighty attending Sunday services. He leads two Bible studies at the recovery centers each week in addition to caring for the new churches. He already has new locations in towns on the highway from Campeche to Mérida and travels it each month to develop new mission stations. He is a chiropractor by training and has served as an evangelist with Word of Life for almost two decades. We are excited to be back church planting in the Yucatan after waiting and praying for a new Field Coordinator there.
New Fields
Ricardo Ayala presented a seminar in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, last month, casting a vision for planting new churches. In addition to the seminars, he also had the opportunity to speak on a local radio station about our ministry.
We have been invited to return early next year to help a group of leaders strategize for planting more churches in their country.
We have also been invited back to El Salvador to restart a church planting effort there. We visited many years ago and found interest there, but the leadership of the organization we were working with changed and then Covid hit. Now they have new leaders and revived interest and have invited us to return to help strategize for church multiplication.
Education
A few months ago, we graduated our first Hispanic pastor with an MA from Kairos University. Matias Buldain, director of the Pastor’s Training Center in San Justo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, finished his studies and received his diploma. We currently have three Hispanic pastors working on their Doctor of Ministry degrees and one on his MDiv. (Geoff Hartt is serving as faculty mentor for all four.)
Soon we hope to have the BA program available in Spanish. This can be linked with the MDiv program so a student can earn both their BA and MDiv through Kairos concurrently, in Spanish, in about four years. We have several pastors interested already! Tony Campos will be serving as faculty mentor for these new students as we further equip and train them for ministry.
