Get to know Karl and Vanderlene Uebelhoer

Karl and Vanderlene have a vision to inspire, develop and equip the next generation to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations…”, but they are doing this in the context of NAB’s partner ministry Chain of Love.  This Brazilian ministry is transforming the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and abused children through the gospel of Jesus Christ…one child at a time. As the Chaplain at Chain of Love, Karl will be speaking spiritual truth into the lives of children and the house parents who care for these children.

Here is a taste of their story . . .

Just after college in 1994 we started our first ministry to “street children” while living in Minas Gerais, Brazil. After several years had past, we returned to the United States and began serving in our church and community, raising kids, and just living life. We were always aware of God’s compelling call to serve among the millions of orphaned, abandoned, and/or displaced children of Brazil who have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we grew in our faith, we realized God was calling us to leave behind everything we knew and follow Him to serve full time with these kids.

This call drives us like nothing we’ve known before. Jesus tells a story in Matthew 13 of a man who finds treasure in a field and in his joy, sells all he has to buy the field. Well, in our joy we’re buying that field! Our partnership with Chain of Love is nothing short of the hand of God directing our lives. We love this work, we love God, and pray we will prove to be workers worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
