Friends,

I am so thankful to have had the chance to return to the US for nearly 6 weeks this summer. I had several weeks of training to attend, spent a bit of time with my home church in Junction City, enjoyed catching up with a variety of friends and family members, and even got to go ‘Up North’ for a few days. (We have a huge family reunion at a lake in Minnesota every year . . . usually around a hundred people, complete with pinochle tournament, family Olympics, and plenty of lake time.) It was a great time of backing up a little, refocusing, and preparing to jump back into my life here in Cameroon.

I have been back in Cameroon for about a bit less than two weeks at this point and am pretty much back in the swing of things. We made it through orientation with the new and returning students last week, and regular classes start up this week. After a really hard year last year, I am looking forward to a year with many fewer responsibilities. It has also been SO encouraging to watch our students these past few days. They have done such a great job of reaching out to new students (nearly a third of our student body this year!), including everyone, and just reflecting the Godly character we pray they will all develop. If our opening activities are any indication of the year ahead, it will be a great year!
