Dear Family and Friends,

We had a busy summer as I’m sure you had. Actually, we had summer in Edmonton and Kansas City in July/August, and we had “rainy season” at Mbingo the remaining time.

We appreciated seeing many of you at the NAB Triennial Conference in Edmonton in July. We benefited from the excellent speakers as we were challenged to be Shaped by God for mission. We were challenged by the unity of the message, brought in vastly contrasting styles, and even through the various reports from our Conference departments and at the business session. God blessed us tremendously!

Immediately before the Triennial, we enjoyed the open house at Taylor Seminary and tour of the White Cross facilities there. Who knew that so much was involved in receiving, packing up and shipping the White Cross sea containers that are sent to aid the medical work and missionaries in Cameroon. Thanks to all of you in both the USA and Canada who take part in this ministry in various ways.

A fringe benefit of the Taylor open house was meeting up with so many former missionaries from Cameroon and Nigeria. Here are a few of the ones we saw.

Also before the Triennial, our missionaries met together with our outgoing mission director, Rev. Norm Poehlke, and our new interim director, Rev. Kerry Bender. It was a time to get better acquainted with each other, to meet new appointees, Brandon and Marci Jones (Brazil), and to pray for each other and the NAB mission work around the world.

Many have asked for an update on the current socio-political situation in Cameroon. Although May and June were quite difficult around Mbingo, we are thankful it has been quiet around the hospital for the past two months. Unfortunately, the crisis has worsened in other areas of the Northwest and Southwest regions. We anticipate that the next few months will remain uncertain, with the presidential election scheduled for early October. Some missionaries have had to relocate out of the affected regions, but we feel we are still safe here at the hospital. For a short history of the situation, see https://nabonmission.org/cameroon-update-july-3-2018/. Please continue in prayer for the country and for us.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of what God is doing through NAB missions around the world. We appreciate your partnership with us in prayer and financial support for this Kingdom work in Cameroon. Thank you again for the important role you play.
