Brazilian Baptist Conference Meeting

Published on March 03, 2015

Dear Family and Friends,

Rio Grande Do Sul Baptist Theological Seminary

After two years of planning, this March our Seminary will be launching our new pastoral formation program!  The program is two and a half years long and is designed to combine theory with practice.  We are especially excited because this program will be offered in partnership with NAB pastors and professors who will come to Brazil to teach intensive 2-week courses.  After such a positive experience with our EQUIP leadership training, it is great that we can partner again.  I will continue to be one of the main professors as well as coordinating the academic side of the program.  Our academic year starts March 5th and goes until the end of November.

Brazilian Baptist Convention

Our NAB mission works exclusively with the Rio Grande do Sul Baptist State Convention which is an associate of the Brazilian Baptist Convention.  For only the second time in the history the Rio Grande do Sul Baptist State Convention hosted the annual meetings of the annual meetings of the Brazilian Baptist Convention from February 5-10 and I had the privilege of attending and helping out as a volunteer.  It was a very significant event as our state is the least reach state with only a small number of Baptist churches in comparison to the other Brazilian states.  Therefore, it was great to hear that these were the best attended annual meetings in the last 12 years and that the number of participants present at the opening meeting was the highest it’s ever been in the history of the Brazilian Baptist Convention – 1800 participants!  That number grew to almost 4000 over the course of the week.  I spent my time at the State Baptist Convention booth helping to promote church planting in our state as well as our Seminary!

Thank you so much for your help and support!
