Dear Friends and Family,

The boys and I arrived in Buffalo, NY, on August 17, and had a few days to get over jet leg before almost daily appointments to get them ready for school. Our learning curve of American culture can often be overwhelming, and the boys have made some quick observations of the differences as seen by their experiences. We feel blessed to have the boys attend Christian Central Academy http://www.christianca.com, who have welcomed them with open arms. All three boys were able to play soccer and Noah and Jonah had an especially great season. Their prayers were answered to be able to play competitive soccer once again. Our learning curve also continues as we are walking alongside Noah through the college application process. It has definitely been a busy two-and-a-half months just keeping up with the kids.

Besides the blessing of spending time with our NAB family, Paul has also been blessed to be able to catch up with family friends and enjoy the open spaces and fresh air of the DakotasJ Paul is still working on church visits for January through July 2017, so please contact him at pemedicus@yahoo.com to discuss a church visit.

We are blessed and thankful for the support, prayers, and love that we continue to receive from all our supporters.

We were saddened by the passing of Roger Reed, and yet thankful that we were able to travel to SD to spend time with Shan Reed and her family as they mourned. Please continue to pray for Shan and her family as they process through this loss and continue to lean on Jesus.

Please continue to pray for Shan Reed, Yuri Nakano, and Ken and Rachelle Johnson as they minister at Komyo Christian Church and in their communities. Pray for the people of the church as many are young Christians, still learning about their relationship with Jesus. Pray that they will be spiritually protected and that they will continue to seek Jesus and work out their faith.

I am always amazed with God. Esther 4:14b says “…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” During an open house at CCA, Jonah was able to help a Japanese family while visiting the school. What a joy to see God encourage and use Jonah to bless someone else. Pray for this family who may or many not attend CCA, but who have definitely been exposed to the kindness, love, and joy of Jesus by visiting CCA. God has also designed that the daughter of one of our neighbors in Japan is attending the State Univerity of NY at Buffalo this year. I am looking forward to meeting with her in the next week and to discuss Christianity. In her mind Christianity is just a part of American culture. What a great opportunity to share with her that belief in God is for all people; Jesus did not come to save only Americans but for all people, all nations created by God.

Blessings,

Paul and Melissa
